When your neighbors decided to move forward with their window project, they did the customary thing. They had different companies come in and present their windows and give them a price. Tired of all the tattered screens, the dust, the pollen, the rain and the basic inability to use her screened porch on the third floor as she desired, she requested the input from the owner of GREENBUILT HOME SOLUTIONS to see what her options were. She was able to affordably install an acrylic window system with bronze frames to match her existing framework, put a solid transom on the bottom and operating windows on the top. She chose a bronze acrylic to further assist her in minimizing the heat coming in. After approval by the ARB, she had her windows installed. The final result?

Here’s what she had to say in her own words…
I had acrylic windows put in last week in my porch area by Greenbuilt Home Solutions and what a difference they have made. My condo faces the street and I love that you can’t see inside from street level. Its also quieter than just having screens and the porch can now be used as a part of the house since the windows can be closed and the room doesn’t get as hot. I wish I had added these sooner!
I must add that the only house member that isn’t pleased with the new windows is my cat, Monkey, who no longer has screens to climb or blinds to chew and can’t figure out how these new windows will be fun for him. I, however, am quite happy to have been able to Monkey proof my porch.
I would highly recommend Eric and his team to add window solutions to anyone’s home.

HOMEOWNER EASILY ADDED 200 S.F. OF USABLE SPACE!
These homeowners in APOPKA had moved into their home in May of 2011. They had been thinking about options to enclose their back screen room to make it more usable. They saw GREENBUILT HOME SOLUTIONS at the Manatee Festival in Orange City and discussed their options with the owner. They scheduled for him to come out and see their project. After reviewing their wants and needs, the owner of GREENBUILT suggested enclosing their screen porch with acrylic horizontal windows and install a glass prime entry patio door. To further insulate the lanai we suggested installing a 2″ EPS foam against the interior kickplate and sandwiching with another aluminum “skin”. The homeowners LOVED the idea AND the price! Oh and by the way, the husband was a retired engineer so quality control was imperative to his satisfaction. After the install was completed the husband, while smiling ear to ear turned to his wife and said “well here you go honey, another 200 s.f. room for the house” Enough said!

(ARA) – Even in a volatile economy, homeowners are making home upkeep a priority. While the number of projects annually had been on the decline in recent years, a study from BuildFax, a resource for building, remodeling and repair information, found remodeling activity was up in 2011 over 2010. Additional data shows homeowners are opting to invest in what matters most with projects that benefit their wallets, personal comfort and the environment.
Know the facts
Before buying anything, shoppers are taking time to learn more about the products they put in their homes. For one in four consumers, knowing and understanding what makes up general household products is important. As options continue to increase, this attention to research is key to finding efficient products that offer maximum value. For instance, homeowners will find that a few newer home insulation products that help provide greater energy efficiency also boast new sustainable formulations.
Energy-efficient essentials
According to the 2010 Home Improvement Research Institute Trends Program Report, reducing household energy usage and bills through energy-efficient improvements continues to be the No. 1 reason homeowners make home improvements. That same report also indicated six out of 10 consumers need help identifying what they can do to be more environmentally conscious.
“Now is the right time to make efficiency improvements around the home because homeowners will see an immediate impact on their monthly utility bills, and will reap even greater benefits in the long term,” says Frank O’Brien-Bernini, chief sustainability officer at Owens Corning. “According to the U.S. Department of Energy, buildings use more energy in the United States than either transportation or industry, accounting for the consumption of 40 percent of our nation’s energy resources. On a more granular level, the primary use of energy in a home is for heating and cooling. In many homes, excessive energy is wasted through poorly sealed and insulated attics, walls and ductwork – all problems that can be solved by handy do-it-yourselfers or through experienced contractors.”
The Home Improvement Research Institute reports roughly one in three homeowners plans to purchase more energy-efficient doors, windows or HVAC systems in the coming year. Sealing all openings around doors and windows can help homeowners make the most of their investment. Air ducts should also be inspected to ensure they are clean, are free of leaks and holes and direct air to the right spaces.

We had met this homeowner at an event last October. Her schedule was so busy, the owner of GREENBUILT HOME SOLUTIONS, INC., couldn’t get her scheduled until NOW. Her home was built in 1970. She had already replaced her windows with ENERGY STAR rated windows so she was on her way to an energy efficient home. But she, just as most homeowners, had the typical 3-4 inches of existing attic insulation. Independent studies show the typical HEAT GAIN OR HEAT LOSS through the attic is up to 25%! This homeowner approached the owner of GREENBUILT HOME SOLUTIONS, INC. at an event in AZALEA PARK. His first question and statement was “so how much are your windows- did you know that the company that advertises all over the place with a LOW PRICE window; it really isn’t that price”? The owner told him that he had heard that. After further discussion it was agreed to let the owner come out for A FREE QUOTE. After careful analysis of this homeowners window project and the quote was given, he informed the owner that our price was HUNDREDS less than the “the other companys low price window”.
